1. When should I start looking for an outfit ?
We have two main stock deliveries per year usually in January/February for Spring & Summer and July for Autumn &Winter.It’s important to note that we get incredibly busy when the new stock arrives into store so it’s worthwhile making an appointment to come in and try on before the outfits go! We don’t order every outfit in every size and as we have to order our stock 6 months in advance, it is unlikely that we will be able to re-order other sizes if they sell out so it’s always advisable to purchase the outfit there and then rather than go looking round other shops .
2. What Size do you go up to?
We stock standard and plus sizes between size 8-28 in the shop and our Lace outfits from Penguin Designs (including the Trouser Suits) can be made to measure up to a UK size 40.
3. Do you hire the outfits?
Unfortunately we are not able to hire the outfits due to every lady being a different height, shape etc so we wouldn’t be able to alter the outfits to fit.Outfits are for sale only and cost between £295 to £795 for a dress and jacket.
4. Do I have to make an appointment ?
During peak times between January and August we operate by appointment only however we always keep appointments available at short notice.We suggest you make your appointment at least 3 months before the wedding to allow for any necessary alterations and to give you the best selection in your size.
5. Do I need an appointment if I only want to browse ?
We suggest you still make an appointment if you want to browse so that you are not disappointed if you turn up and we are already booked with private appointments and have to turn you way.We would usually allocate a 15 minute browsing appointment time for one person during which time you are free to look at the outfits but will not be able to try on .
6. How long does an appointment last?
A trying on appointment will last for 1.5 hours during which time our experienced style consultants will help select outfits for your to try on.We can accommodate a maximum of two ladies trying on outfits at the same time (ideal if both mums want to try on)and you have our full attention during this period.You may bring one other person to accompany you .Unfortunately,we do not have enough space to accommodate extended wedding parties to your appointment so we would suggest you only bring one or two key people to help you choose your outfit.
We also offer private appointments for those ladies who may feel uncomfortable if others are in the shop.Private appointments last for two hours and there will be no one else in the shop during your appointment.You may bring up to 3 guests to accompany you and the service will involve full personal shopping with one of our style consultants including hats, bags, shoes and accessories .The cost for this will be £25 payable in advance which will be refundable against any outfit purchased however will not be refunded if no outfit is purchased.This service also includes refreshments.
7. How many people can I bring with me ?
We recommend a maximum of two people but ideally only one person to accompany you to your appointment.This is because we have found in our experience too many people all have a different opinion and end up causing confusion to the lady who is trying on. In order to avoid two trips to the shop we would recommend you arrange your appointment at a time when you can bring the person whose opinion would matter enough to change your mind about the outfit e.g. if it is important the bride sees your outfit before purchase , it would be advisable to bring her to the appointment.
8. What are your opening hours ?
Monday, Tuesday and Friday we are open 10am-5pm
Thursday we are open 10am -8pm
Saturday we are open 9am -4pm
Please note we are always closed on a Wednesday.
9. Is there parking ?
Yes there is plenty of free parking both directly outside the shop and on the road at the front.
10. Is there disabled access to the shop ?
The shop is on the ground floor with access through the main wedding shop.There are no stairs and the door is wide enough to accommodate a standard wheelchair. If for any reason someone is unable to gain access through the door we are able to bring outfits out to the main shop where there is a large accessible changing room.
11. Do I need to bring anything with me or wear anything specific when I come for my appointment ?
We advise you bring with you the underwear you may wear on the day.We often find ladies feel more comfortable in shapewear if the dress is particularly fitted and sometimes a strapless bra is useful.
We do have shoes available to try on however if you have a particularly wide /narrow foot or you are not a common size, we would advise you bring a pair of neutral shoes or shoes of the heel height that you would normally wear.
