When should I start looking for an outfit ?

In normal times we have two  main stock deliveries per year for our mother of the bride and groom dresses – usually January / February for  Spring & Summer (this delivery will cover all weddings up to end of October) and July for Autumn & Winter.(for weddings taking place usually between November and February)

2020 and 2021 are very different due to the global pandemic. We are experiencing 3 month stock delays for Autumn/Winter 2020 now not expected until beginning of October and there are now only very limited styles that are being produced.

In 2020 this means that we realistically will not have much more new stock arriving .We do keep several winter styles in stock all year round.

Our main trade show where we order all of our new stock for 2021 has been cancelled .This has a massive effect on our stock levels for 2021.

Our manufacturers are telling us that again due to fabric shortages and factory shutdowns that happened in 2020 , they will only be producing a very limited range of new styles for 2021.

As a result of many weddings being postponed from 2020 into 2021 , coupled with existing weddings already booked in 2021 – next year is likely to be extremely busy for us.

This essentially means that if you don’t visit us in 2020 to secure your  wedding outfit, you may well be disappointed if you leave it to 2021.This will be across the board in all the mother of the bride shops as we all order at the same trade show.

Once we have sold out of a size in a particular style we can’t then reorder.

Please don’t worry you have to lose weight before you visit us – we carry around 600 outfits, dresses and floaty trouser suits in sizes 8-38 for all seasons all year round along with around 300 matching hats and fascinators.Outfits usually need some form of minor alteration due to the European sizing and they can usually be taken down by up to three dress sizes , should your body change shape before the wedding.

 

We’ve also got dresses suitable for wedding guest and ladies day at the races or even if you want something a little less formal .

Do I have to make an appointment ?

The short answer is Yes!

However we do keep appointments available at short notice.  Please be aware we cannot accommodate walk ins for browsing. We provide a personal one to one fitting service and we pride ourselves on selecting the perfect outfit for you for your occasion- in nearly every case our selection is not the customers original choice .

In fact our customers tell us time and time again that they would never have even considered their final choice from looking at it on the hanger.It is highly unlikely that you will “know it when you see it” just from your own browsing of our ranges which is why we work by appointment only to give you the benefit of our extensive experience in helping you look and feel amazing!

How long does an appointment last?

A trying on appointment will last for 1.5 hours during which time our experienced style consultants will help select outfits for your to try on.

At the moment we can only accommodate one customer and one guest at a time.We are hoping that once government restrictions are lifted we can offer double appointments with up to two guests.

We can also offer hat and accessory appointments by prior arrangement.Please call us on 01905 622233 if you already have your dress and just want us to match up your accessories.

 

Please be aware we cannot accomodate prams or children for health and safety reasons

Other guests can see your final choice using video technology.

 

What are the appointment times?

Please be aware we work to fixed appointment times and cannot accomodate browsing.

In order to comply with government restrictions we have had to significantly reduce the number of available appointments.

Our appointment times are now 9am, 11am,1.30pm and 3.30pm  only to allow extensive cleaning between customers.

We are hoping we will be back to normal either later this year or from January 2021 onwards.

 

How many people can I bring with me ?

At the moment we can only accomodate one guest with you to your appointment.as we don’t have space in our changing rooms to socially distance to allow further guests.

In order to avoid two trips to the shop (and potential disappointment if the outfit sells), we would recommend you arrange your appointment at a time when you can bring the person whose opinion would matter enough to change your mind about the outfit e.g. if it is important the bride sees your outfit before purchase , it would be advisable to make an appointment when the bride can accompany you.

What Size do you go up to?

We stock standard and plus sizes between size 8-38 in the shop and our custom made outfits from Penguin Designs (including the Trouser Suits) can be made  up to a UK size 50.

What brands do you stock?

Outfits -We are a Midlands stockist of Carla Ruiz, Couture Club by Rosa Clara, Sonia Pena, Lizabella, Ella Boo, Veromia Occasions , Dressed Up Plus Size,Dress Code, Cassandra and Penguin Designs.

Hats and Fascinators- We stock J Bees, Failsworth,Peter Bettley, Snoxell Gwyther, Nigel Rayment and The Niche

What are your opening hours ?

At the moment the shop is open by appointment only between the hours of 9am -5pm Monday to Friday

We are always closed on Sundays and Bank Holidays

Is there parking ?

Yes there is plenty of free parking directly outside the shop in our own allocated car park spaces.

What is your price range?

Our designer outfits and dresses vary in price depending on brand.

Prices range from £225-£875 with the “average” price for a dress and jacket around the £475 mark.

Dresses range in price from £225-£695 with the “average” dress being £295

Hats and fascinators range from £85-£225

Matching shoes and bag sets range from £95-£165 for the set

Is there disabled access to the shop ?

The shop is all at ground level with a standard width door which can accomodate wheelchairs .

Do you have a good selection of outfits to try on ?

At peak times we stock around 600 outfits, dresses and trouser suits in sizes 8-38 for mother of the bride,mother of the groom,wedding guest and ladies day at the races.

We have an extensive plus size selection we are probably one of the largest plus size mother of the bride and groom stockists in the Midlands.

We also have around 300 matching hats and fascinators.

Do I need to bring anything with me or wear anything specific when I come for my appointment ?

We advise you bring with you the underwear you may wear on the day.We often find ladies feel more comfortable in shapewear if the dress is particularly fitted and sometimes a strapless bra is useful.

We do have shoes available to try on however if you have a particularly wide /narrow foot or you are not a common size, we would advise you bring a pair of neutral shoes or shoes of the heel height that you would normally wear.

Lovely shop with a huge range of outfits. I went with my Mum who was really unsure what sort of outfit she was looking for but Kirsten was really helpful and let us try on a range of styles until Mum found exactly what she wanted. We even bought the hat, bag and shoes to go with the outfit so it was all sorted in the one shop – perfect!
